when is the compaction phase happening?!
Not feasible in any way shape or form. This pod idea would end as soon as a car hits one of these 15 ton things and kills all of the passengers.
Mr. Volvo sit back and look at your design you’re envisioning double handling the material. A truck would have to haul in/out the pods. The pods are an added expense that would not be justified. I’m not an old timer that is resistant to change, just a realist that sees a non-cost effective system.
You know…that’s actually a pretty cool idea. The individual pods is something I could see used on separate systems, or the enclosed/moving cab with Hud system.
this is what happens when you let engineers run wild with an idea or concept with no field experience or communication with industry. This is a ridiculous idea meant to impress the “greenies” or Al Gore.
mean but will this ever come out. never will c this in my life till the day but looks like in many years to come
Oh no.
I really like volvos as they are today, but alot of the designs and systems used in the concepts are, well worrieing.
I love the idea of pods, but as for the rest of the machinery I dislike it. The idea of a paver working Whilst traffic alongside is good But I envisage the Setup, and use of this system to be a nightmare.
its a great idea, but sadly I really don’t like it. A lorry RORO Pod system would be twice as good IMHO.
nice concept but at what point would the rollers come in to compact the asphault?
you need more then a shovel and a rake to pave a road you moron
very revolutionary i must say
hmmm not sure but it looks cool but we b=need to think bout road because there is standards and pavent gets thick
what will the beaners do with thier shovels and rakes,
This paving concept is based, in great part, on equipment and material technologies that have yet to be developed. We believe that the empty pod weight should be light enough so that the load it imposes on the pavement surface will be similar to the load from the human foot walking across the pavement. Regarding positioning of the full pods:Our industry already uses GPS for a multitude of applications. We plan for the paving system to include precise placement of the pod using this technique.
Looks like a wonderful machine, but I have a few questions. Would the asphalt that comes out of the machine be cold straight away? If not wouldn’t this be a problem with the pods? And how do you get the pods on and off the trucks? If by crane then you wouldn’t have them placed exactly onto the correct position, you could prevent this by making the ramp wider at the start then it wouldn’t be such a problem. Also if you had the asphalt itself painted it wouldn’t be as slippery as road paint is now
nice machine i like it i rate it 5-5
