What is a good corrosion preventive spray for hydraulic rams on construction equipment?

I will be spraying in on the shiny part of the ram (exposed part of the piston) before storing the equipment for long periods of time. Thanks.

So why aren’t they stainless steel, or are they chromed? I’d close the ram, and wrap it with a clean, lint free cloth wetted with kerosene or light oil, then put on a light binding to keep the surface contacted and wetted & check periodically. The seals will probably deteriorate over time, anticipate replacement at recommissioning. Do not expect a lock and leave to work long term, periodic checking is essential, with corrective maintenance as needed.

When my digger is left for any time I make sure the rams are fully retracted, i.e. no shiny metal showing. For the rams that you can’t do that with I would suggest grease as my first choice followed by Finnegan’s waxoil second, this comes in a spray form. Don’t bother with Duck oil or other light oil sprays as they will disperse quickly and no longer protect the ram.
